Sometime back, I decided to put together a list of "Jewish jokes" and fun
facts that appealed to me for one reason or another. Jewhoo is inaccurately described as a humor site on some search engines and some
people come to the site looking for "Jewish jokes". Well, as veteran
visitors know, we do have some humor on the site. Some satirical pieces
and other funny things. This includes some comments on the people listed
on the site. However, we are not primarily a humor site.
I like a "good" Jewish joke that is not offensive and that illustrates
some aspect of Jewish history or culture. I figured that if people wanted
jokes---why not provide a few?
I thought I would amuse both veteran visitors and new visitors by
providing a Jewish joke or fun fact of the day. Well, my associates said
there was a computer program that could automatically load Jewish jokes
and post them on a daily basis. We are always short of staff and this
seemed just the answer. But the program can only handle one or two line
jokes.
Therefore, rather than let these jokes and "fun facts" go stale, I decided
to post some of them now. Perhaps we will make this a bi-annual feature.
The way that Garrison Kellior has a joke show every year on his popular
radio program.
Because some of our visitors are not Jewish or "unlearned"---I have
annotated a few jokes with definitions of the Hebrew or Yiddish words used
in the joke.
Anyway, enjoy the jokes and the fun facts. If something is not labeled 'a
fun fact"-it is a joke.
